YB Power 2033: Toughness and teamwork led the way to 2-0!

With strong passing performance from combo guard Lila and a monster night on D from Gigi.

When all seven motors are ON, this is a very tough squad to beat. Yes, and that was the case on Saturday night at The Courts Sports Complex in Northglenn. All seven of these young ladies showed up with a game face that was clear from the time they walked into the gym. The first matchup was against a very solid and well coached Premier team that has been giving other teams troubles in the first two weeks of play. Out of the gates the YBGP'33 squad came out swinging and never looked back. Led by that a night of strong court vision, unselfish playing, and accurate shooting from combo guard #31 Lila on the offensive side. She was finding her teammates of the pick and roll with precision. #15 Ajani and #11 Legend were rolling off the screens with great patience and finishing around the basket pass after pass. Speedy cuts by #5 Anna that opened up the floor enabled the offense to run giving them an early finish after a floating dagger from Lila of the glass (yup she called it) on the left side. Officials called it game at 32 X 11.

#31 Lila with the cross-over, attack, and step back 3 Point dagger at the buzzer!

#21 Gigi. Don't let that sweet smile fool you. This girl is a monster on the court!

On the second half of the double header came the Lady Black Hawks. A team the initially had a mental impact of intimidation on the YB girls due to their stature and overall size. It took a whole quarter for the ladies to get it out of their head that even though the opponent's shortest player was taller than YBs tallest player, what really matter is heart and effort. Talk about heart and effort! Well #21 Gigi to the rescue and #1 Kamari to the assist. Gigi was a monster on defense. She was on the floor, she was on the boards, and quickly she was on every other opponents minds. Causing intimidation with her physical play and causing inspiration with her effort. Which triggered #24 Shannell to join the party. Suddenly an intimidated bunch became the intimidator with their speed, skill and tremendous team work resulting in a solid final score and win of 43 x 15.

At the postgame talk, coach Cass and the staff emphasized the fact that everyone needs to be mentally prepared for the game and not let size, talk, or other distractions get on the way of their performance.
