YB G-Power 2033: JPS Candy Cane Classic: 3-0 Champions

It was clear as day that the '33 girls came ready to do their usual thing on Friday night.

All season long, our YB G-Power 2033 girls have been putting in the work — early-morning practices, tough training sessions, and hours of skill-building and teamwork. They’ve shown grit, growth, and heart every step of the way. And this weekend at the JPS Candy Cane Classic 2025, all that preparation paid off in the best way possible.

From the opening tip to the final buzzer, our girls played with confidence, composure, and determination. They didn’t just show up to compete — they showed everyone who was boss.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scoring runs, big rebounds, or fast-break layups (though there were plenty of those!). It was the way the team trusted one another. They communicated on defense, moved the ball unselfishly, and lifted each other up after every play. When the games got tight, they didn’t panic — they dug deeper and played even stronger.

Every player had a moment to shine. Some made clutch shots ( #31 Lila & #5 Anna) , others fought hard in the paint ( #21 Gigi, #15 Ajani, and #24 Shannell) , and many made smart passes that turned into highlight-reel plays ( #1 Kamari and #13 Izzie). Together, they played as one team with one mission — and they delivered.

Their first game on, Friday night, started with a dominant 48 x 10 win against The Wildcats of Arvada West HS. The true team effort was sure highlighted by the accurate shooting of #31 combo guard Lila, who showed up red hot to hit 6 three pointers in a row to the amusement of the bench and crowd.

Up next on Saturday, the faced a disciplined and tough Premier Stack squad. Led by the offensive efforts of #31 Lila (13pt & 6reb), #13 Izzie (6pt) , and #5 Anna (7pt), and the toughest defense in the gym with rebounding machines with #21 Gigi (7 reb), #24 Shannell (7 reb), #15 Ajani (7 reb) and #1 Kamari with 4 steals. YB G-Power was too much to handle and sealed the deal with a solid 33x18 win.

These wins set them up in a solid first place standing and pretty much a guaranteed championship regardless of results in the final game, but... you know these girls and they sure wanted to head to the break with a win over a familiar GRIT Give team. And yup, that was the case! It was a hard fought battle, but for the 4th straight win agains this team came up with strong performances from the whole squad and a solid final score of 38x29

The energy on the sidelines was just as powerful. Coaches guided, encouraged, and challenged the girls to believe in themselves. Families and supporters filled the gym with cheers, high-fives, and smiles that stretched from baseline to baseline. It truly felt like a community victory.

By the end of the tournament, there was no doubt — this group earned their success. They didn’t stumble into it. They built it — through effort, resilience, respect, and teamwork.

The Candy Cane Classic wasn’t just a tournament win. It was a statement:

✨ Hard work matters

✨ Preparation creates confidence

✨ And when this team plays together… they are unstoppable

We’re incredibly proud of these girls — not only for what they accomplished on the court, but for the character, sportsmanship, and joy they showed along the way, which they continue to build. This is just the beginning of their journey, and the future looks bright.

The night was just starting with the first championship game in the bag for the girls. Up next the YB Power 2031 played a championship game against a familiar opponent in Mile High Elite, and to wrap up the night the YB Power 2030 Boys will face a very solid B&B Black squad. The girls started a night with what looked like a possibility of a back-to-back-to-back. So Boys, go do your thing!!
