YB Power 2030: Tough stretch of three consecutive 2 point losses!

Updated: Oct 7

Shorthanded YBP'30 faces adversity and comes out short on back to back losses

The YPB'30 squad is a team loaded with talent and potential, and when the full roster is together, they have everything needed to compete with the best. They have done it. However, this season has been a challenge when playing shorthanded, as key absences have made it difficult to perform at their highest level. Still, the group refuses to make excuses—they know what they are capable of and are determined to show it when everyone is back on the floor. This past weekend was another tough test, as they battled hard but fell short in both games by the narrowest of margins—just a single basket, two points each time. While the losses sting, the fight and heart they displayed prove that once this team has a full lineup and have everyone focused, they will be ready to turn the corner and compete at the level they know they can reach. We are talking championship caliber performance. Coach Cass is not worried, he knows its coming.

The first matchup came against a tall, strong, physical, and resilient Eagles team who gave the boys trouble from the start. Despite having a go at a game tying basket at the end, they could not avoid the 40 X 38 defeat. Missing center #20 Callen and Power Forward #8 Kolbee, the team saw a strong performance from up and coming starting center #45 Easton. He was aggressive, matching the size an physicality of the opponent's strong big men. Big E was dishing out post moves that he has diligently been working on during the off season. It showed. Shimmy here, fake there, finishing with both hands, and rebounding the ball quite well. Another strong show from power forward #1 Kam who once again was effective on defense, fast leading the break and smart on making decisions. Small forward #00 Kaeson had some bursts of greatness with a few strong finishes, while PG #2 James coordinated the team well. Despite the efforts the Eagles came out on top at the end leaving the team hungry for a re-match in the playoffs with the full squad.

Next they faced scrappy, physical, and team oriented undefeated RevUp team. For the second game the squad also missed the presence of small forward #11 PJ. The lack of size and strength created by these tree missing players sure showed throughout the game. With that said, the team who faced a 10 point deficit at the halfway mark showed a lot of character and battle back to almost secure the with with two solid opportunities to score where the ball just didn't fall as the board showed a final score of 48 x 46. The team left The Courts complex ready to get back to practice!!
