YB G-Power 2033: 4 straight wins ahead of the Championship round on Oct. 25th

With explosive, high IQ, and unselfish guard play and strong presence in the paint, the YBGP'33 ladies were no match for the competition on their last week of regular season play.

The explosiveness and unselfish play from the dual combo guards in #5 Anna and #31 Lila and the strong presence, IQ, and court awareness of small forward #11 Legend set to orchestrate a dominant night from the YBGP'33 squad on offense. Then you add the hustle play by #21 Gigi who was a beast on the floor, literally hitting the floor on every single loose ball in her vicinity. The continued movement of small forward #1 Kamari who was cutting as good as anyone around and creating open space for her team, and the strong rebounding and help side performance from #24 Shannell = Recipe for dominance!

On the offensive side, the 29 x 9 victory in Game 1 vs. Premier Stack was highlighted by incredible synchrony that Anna and Lila showed with each other with Anna constantly running her cuts and Lila finding her with ease for the open shot.

Let's talk about Anna a little bit: Small in stature but lightning fast, this young guard has quickly become an exciting player to watch. Despite being one of the youngest on the team, she plays with a fierce competitive spirit and is developing a maturity that far exceeds her age. Her blazing speed allows her to push the tempo and create chaos for defenses, while her solid shooting accuracy makes her a constant threat from mid-range and beyond. In just 18 months of playing organized basketball, her growth has been nothing short of incredible—absorbing the game’s nuances, developing poise, and showing an eagerness to learn. She’s evolving rapidly into a reliable combo guard who can control the pace, knock down shots with confidence, and find open teammates with precision. With her drive, and work ethic, the sky is truly the limit for what she’ll accomplish in the coming years.

Buckets are great, but games are definitely won on defense, and that these ladies have to spare. Lead by the aggressive play of #21 Gigi who comes in ripping every loose ball with strength and focus the ladies where doing work on that side of the ball. The stature and awareness on the help side from #15 Ajani and #24 Shannell made the paint an impenetrable zone. Bring the fierce competitive spirt of #1 Kamari who was literally flying in to the walls to save and secure loose balls. Boy oh boy, they are a dangerous mix. Game

Game two was another safe battle for the YBGP'33 girls. With contributions from every player on both sides of the ball, they defeated the Wildcats with a comfortable margin of 30 x 14. Our guards yet again shot the ball very well and were very unselfish in finding each other. The Lila + Ajani pick and roll was working very well and the Legends leadership showed poised under pressure. Despite being targeted by the defenders, she showed composure, did not force bad shots, and made all the right reads in finding the open teammate. It was really fun to watch two very competitive groups who respect each other and leave it all on the court.

#15 Ajani is also beginning to find her grove on both sides of the ball and she has an exciting future with this squad. Despite playing up a grade, she shows that she belongs with the big girls, delivers on rebounding the ball very well and is starting to show the problem that she will become in the near future as she continues to work hard and listen well to coach Cass.

Up next is the championship round on Oct. 25th. The YBGP'33 squad (7-1 in regular season play) is a strong contender to win it all. Both of our girls squads are ready to compete for the top spot. The '33 ladies need to continue to show their unselfish style of play and team focus approach to winning. Come check them out at The Courts Sports Complex as they seek to have a strong performance.
